How to Build a Desktop App

Kaiju Hub AI supports building cross-platform desktop applications using Tauri. This guide covers creating a desktop project, configuring build settings, setting up signing keys, and enabling auto-updates.

1

Create a Desktop Project

Click New Project in the Project Hub and select Desktop as the platform. Choose your preferred web framework for the frontend and select Fresh Install or AI-Generated as the build type.

2

Configure Build Settings

In your project, click the Builds icon in the sidebar. Here you can increment version numbers, choose your installer format based on your operating system, and configure build options.

3

Set Up Signing Keys

For Tauri apps, add a signing key for update verification. If you are using Tauri update signing, you must set an auto-update link. You can generate a secure key if you do not have one — Kaiju Hub AI will generate and store a password automatically.

4

Configure Auto-Updates

Set up auto-updates for your desktop app. We recommend using a Cloudflare R2 bucket for hosting updates. Go to the Cloudflare Storage sidebar in your project, create a bucket, and link it to your project. This allows you to push updates directly to the R2 bucket for your users to receive automatically.
